One radiator is leaking. Can I still use the rest of my heating?
Usually, yes. Close the valves at both ends of the leaking radiator to isolate it and put towels underneath. Keep an eye on the boiler pressure and top it up if needed. If the pressure keeps falling or the leak doesn’t stop once the valves are closed, switch the heating off and call us.
Can I leave my stop tap off overnight until the plumber arrives?
Yes, it’s safe to leave it off. You won’t have running water, toilets will only have one flush left in the cistern, and a combi boiler won’t be able to give you hot water. A sealed heating system will usually keep working. When you turn the water back on, open the stop tap slowly and check for leaks.
What is a power flush and when is it needed?
A power flush pumps water and cleaning chemicals through the heating system at high flow to remove built-up sludge and rust. It’s usually recommended when radiators have cold patches, the water is black when you bleed them, or the boiler is noisy. Afterwards, we add corrosion inhibitor and can fit a magnetic filter to keep the system clean.
Will the price be agreed before you start?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only starts once you’ve agreed to the price.
