Emergency Plumber FAQs for Leeds
Which areas of Leeds do you cover?
We cover all of Leeds, including Headingley, Hyde Park, Burley, Kirkstall, Meanwood, Chapel Allerton, Moortown, Alwoodley, Adel, Roundhay, Harehills, Seacroft, Cross Gates, Garforth, Horsforth, Armley, Bramley, Pudsey, Wortley, Beeston, Holbeck, Hunslet, Morley and Rothwell.
Should I call a plumber or the water company?
Contact the water company if your whole street has no water or low pressure, if water is leaking from the road or pavement, or if discoloured water is affecting the area. Call a plumber for leaks, blockages and faults inside your home, and usually for the supply pipe running from your boundary to the property. If you’re not sure, call us and we’ll help you work it out.
There’s a puddle under my radiator but I can’t see the leak. How do I find it?
Dry the radiator, valves and pipes, then wipe each part with tissue to see where it gets wet first. Common spots are the valve nuts, the bleed valve, the joints where the valves meet the radiator, and the radiator body itself. Close both valves to limit the leak and call us to repair or replace the faulty part.
There’s a burning smell coming from my boiler. What should I do?
Switch the boiler off at its power switch and open a window. A burning smell can come from an overheating fan or pump motor, a wiring fault or debris inside the casing, and it needs checking before the boiler is used again. A Gas Safe engineer can find the cause. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Will I get a quote before you begin?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Nothing goes ahead until you’ve agreed to the price.
