goes wrong in Sheffield
Emergency calls we often attend in Sheffield include heating systems that only lose pressure once they warm up, cylinders that only give hot water when the heating is switched on, and households caught without the basic tools to shut off a leak. We also repair burst pipes, leaking radiators and valves, and blocked toilets and drains. Our plumbers trace each fault properly, carry the parts to complete most repairs in one visit, and agree the price with you before starting any work.

My boiler only loses pressure when the heating is on. Why?
When the system heats up, water expands and the pressure rises. A small leak on a radiator valve or hidden pipe can get worse as things warm up, or a faulty expansion vessel can make the pressure climb until the relief valve lets water out through the pipe outside. Check radiator valves for drips and look for water at the outside pipe. A Gas Safe engineer can find and fix the cause.
I only get hot water when the heating is switched on. What’s wrong?
On systems with a hot water cylinder, this usually means the hot water zone valve has failed, the cylinder thermostat is faulty, or the programmer isn’t calling for hot water on its own. Running the heating opens a path that lets the cylinder warm up by chance. We’ll test the controls and valves and replace the faulty part.
What should I keep at home in case of a plumbing emergency?
Make sure you know where your stop tap is and that it turns. It also helps to keep a bucket and old towels, a torch, a flat-head screwdriver for isolation valves, a radiator bleed key and a plunger somewhere easy to reach. Save our number in your phone so you can call straight away if something goes wrong.
Do you give a quote before starting?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only goes ahead once you’ve agreed to the price.
