Emergency Plumbing Services in Chelmsford
Fast-response plumbers
covering all of Chelmsford
In Chelmsford we’re often called to heating header tanks overflowing in the loft, usually caused by a split coil inside the hot water cylinder or a failed float valve. Other common jobs include airlocks that leave taps with no hot water after the supply has been off, leaking stop tap glands, failed solder joints on copper pipework, and toilets leaking at the base because the pan has worked loose. Our plumbers use pipe freezing kits and isolation valves to repair leaks without draining the whole system where possible, carry the parts for most repairs, and agree the price with you before starting.

Emergency Plumber FAQs for Chelmsford
Which areas of Chelmsford do you cover?
We cover all of Chelmsford and the surrounding areas, including Springfield, Chelmer Village, Beaulieu Park, Broomfield, Moulsham, Old Moulsham, Melbourne, Widford, Writtle, Great Baddow, Galleywood, Danbury, Boreham and Great Leighs.
The small tank in my loft keeps overflowing. What’s causing it?
This is usually the heating feed and expansion tank. It can overflow if the float valve is stuck, or if the coil inside your hot water cylinder has split and water is passing between the two systems. Either way it needs repairing, as it wastes water and can damage the heating system over time.
My hot water stopped after the water supply was turned off. Why?
When the supply comes back on, air can get trapped in the pipes and block the flow to hot taps. This is known as an airlock. Running all the taps for a few minutes sometimes clears it. If it doesn’t, we can clear the airlock safely and check the system is working properly.
Can you fix a leak without turning off water to the whole house?
Often, yes. We can use isolation valves or a pipe freezing kit to stop the flow to just the section being repaired, so the rest of your water and heating keeps working while we fix the leak.
Will I know the cost before the job starts?
Yes. Your plumber will explain the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only starts once you’ve agreed to the price.
