Emergency Plumber FAQs for Hull
Which areas of Hull do you cover?
We cover all of Hull and nearby areas, including the Avenues, Newland Park, Newington, Gipsyville, Derringham, Pickering, Orchard Park, Kingswood, Bransholme, Sutton-on-Hull, Stoneferry, Drypool, Summergangs, Garden Village, Marfleet, Greatfield, Bilton Grange, Anlaby, Kirk Ella and Willerby.
Why is my hot water pressure much lower than my cold?
On many systems, cold water comes straight from the mains while hot water is fed from a cylinder supplied by a tank in the loft, so it naturally has less pressure. A sudden drop can also be caused by scale in the hot side of taps or valves, a blocked filter on a combi boiler, or a partly closed valve. We’ll test the system and either fix the restriction or advise on the best way to improve hot water pressure.
The water level in my toilet pan keeps dropping. What’s wrong?
Common causes are a hairline crack in the pan, a partial blockage that slowly draws water out, or air being pulled through the trap because of a problem with the drain vent. A dropping water level can let drain smells into the room. We’ll find the cause and repair or replace whatever is at fault.
The water meter under my sink is leaking. Who should fix it?
If water is coming from the meter itself, contact your water supplier, as the meter usually belongs to them. Leaks from the pipework or fittings on either side of the meter are normally the property owner’s responsibility. Turn off the stop tap if you can, and we’ll repair the leaking pipework or fittings.
Will the price be agreed before work begins?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only starts once you’ve agreed to the price.
