Emergency Plumber FAQs for Lancashire
Which parts of Lancashire do you cover?
We cover towns and villages across Lancashire, including Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth, Garstang, Preston, Leyland, Chorley, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Blackpool, Fleetwood, Lytham St Annes, Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington, Burnley, Nelson, Colne and Clitheroe. For rural addresses, we’ll give you a realistic arrival time when you call.
My home is on a private water supply and the water has stopped. What should I check?
Check that the pump has power and that nothing has tripped at the consumer unit. A clogged filter or treatment unit can also stop the flow. If the pump keeps switching on and off, the pressure vessel may have lost its charge. We can test the pump, pressure switch, vessel and pipework and get your supply running again.
How can I protect a second home or holiday let from frost?
Keeping the heating on a low setting or using the boiler’s frost protection mode helps stop pipes freezing. A frost thermostat can switch the heating on automatically when temperatures drop. Insulating pipes in lofts and outbuildings also helps, and for longer empty periods we can drain the system down and refill it when you return.
There’s a wet patch in my garden that never dries. Could it be a leak?
It could be a leak on the underground supply pipe or a damaged drain. Check your water meter with everything turned off; if it’s still moving, water is escaping. We can trace the leak and repair or replace the pipe. If the leak is on the water company’s side of the boundary, we’ll let you know so you can contact them.
Do you give a quote before starting work?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only goes ahead once you’ve agreed to the price.
