Emergency Plumber FAQs for Sunderland
Which areas of Sunderland do you cover?
We cover all of Sunderland, including Roker, Seaburn, Fulwell, Southwick, Castletown, Hylton Castle, Red House, Town End Farm, Pennywell, Pallion, Millfield, High Barnes, Barnes, Ashbrooke, Hendon, Grangetown, Ryhope, Silksworth, Doxford Park, Farringdon, Thorney Close and Grindon.
The hot water from my combi is scalding. What should I do?
First check the hot water temperature setting on the boiler and turn it down. If the water is still too hot, a temperature sensor or control part may be faulty, and a Gas Safe engineer should check it. Take extra care with children and older people in the meantime. We can also fit a thermostatic mixing valve to limit the temperature at the bath or basin.
Why does my bath take so long to fill?
Common causes include low pressure on a tank-fed system, a gate valve that’s partly closed, limescale inside the bath taps or narrow pipework feeding them. On a combi, the flow is limited by how much water the boiler can heat at once. We’ll test the flow, find the restriction and recommend the right fix.
My outside drain cover is cracked or missing. Can you replace it?
Yes. A broken or missing cover is a trip hazard and lets leaves, soil and stones fall into the drain, which often leads to blockages. Cover the opening safely until we arrive. We’ll fit a new cover or grid and check the drain below is clear and flowing properly.
Will the price be agreed before the job starts?
Yes. Your plumber will diagnose the problem and give you a clear quote first. Work only begins once you’ve agreed to the price.
